Effective service to God is grounded in the principle of death and resurrection. This principle is exemplified by Jesus, who, despite being sinless, submitted to baptism as a figure of death and resurrection before beginning His ministry. 'No servant of the Lord can serve Him without himself knowing the working of that principle in his life.' This means that our natural life, with its strengths and abilities, must be brought into death and then resurrected by God for True spiritual service. This process ensures that our service is not tainted by the flesh but is empowered by the Holy Spirit.
