Two Systems of Thinking
Daniel Kahneman introduces the concept of two systems in human thinking: System 1 and System 2. System 1 operates automatically and quickly, making snap judgments and decisions based on associative memory and quick impressions. In contrast, System 2 is slow, deliberate, and requires conscious effort and attention. This distinction helps understand how we process information and make decisions. 'System 1 operates automatically and quickly, with little or no effort and no sense of voluntary control. System 2 allocates attention to the effortful mental activities that demand it, including complex computations.'
