The Reason for God

Christian faith has compelling reasons and evidence to support it, and through respectful dialogue between believers and skeptics, we can make the case for God in an intellectually honest way that addresses modern doubts while acknowledging that faith ultimately requires both reason and belief.

The people who are fanatics...are so not because they are too committed to the gospel but because they're not committed to it enough.

If our minds can't plumb the depths of the universe for good answers to suffering… this is blind faith of a high order.

If you have a God great enough to be mad at because he hasn't stopped evil… then you have (at the same moment) a God great enough…to have reasons you can't know.

Everything sad is going to come untrue—and it will somehow be greater for having once been broken and lost.

Which set of unavoidably exclusive beliefs will lead us to humble, peace-loving behavior?

Identity apart from God is inherently unstable... If anything threatens your identity you will not just be anxious but paralyzed with fear.

Whatever you base your life on becomes 'Lord of your life,' whether you think of it that way or not.

Our hearts are restless until they find their rest in Thee!

The Cross creates a counterculture in which sex, money, and power cease to control us and are used in life-giving and community-building rather than destructive ways.

On the cross neither justice nor mercy loses out—both are fulfilled at once.

If Jesus rose from the dead, it changes everything.

All doubts... are really a set of alternate beliefs.

A faith without some doubts is like a human body without any antibodies in it.

God's grace does not come to people who morally outperform others, but to those who admit their failure to perform.

There is no necessary disjunction between science and devout faith.

If you pick and choose what you want to believe [in Scripture]…you'll have a Stepford God!

Though you could not prove [fine-tuning] was due to some sort of design...it would be unreasonable to conclude that it wasn't.

It is not the strength of your faith but the object of your faith that actually saves you.

You can't live the Christian life without a band of Christian friends…to ensure we have put our heart-trust in Jesus rather than other things.
