Reconciliation with Others as a Path to God
Bonhoeffer emphasizes that harboring grudges or causing harm to others creates a barrier between oneself and God. He argues that True worship and sacrifice are unacceptable to God if there is unresolved conflict with others. 'God will not be separated from our brother: he wants no honour for himself so long as our brother is dishonoured.' This idea is illustrated through the necessity of reconciliation before offering gifts at the altar, as Jesus taught. The practical implication is that the church must examine itself and ensure it has not wronged others, as unresolved conflicts make prayers and worship vain.
