Trusting in God's Sovereignty
A central theme in the book is the belief in God's ultimate plan and the wisdom to trust in it, even when it is incomprehensible. Keller illustrates this through the story of Joseph, who maintains faith despite prolonged suffering. He argues, 'God was hearing and responding to Joseph’s prayers for deliverance, rescue, and salvation, but not in the ways or forms or times Joseph asked for it.' This emphasizes that while humans may not always understand God's reasons, trusting in His plan can provide comfort and reassurance.
